Mount Popa is an extinct volcano plug with height of 4981ft, located at 50km southeast of Bagan. Volcanic ash made the soil of area fertile and vegetation with beautiful flowers blossom. Popa is Sanskrit word for flower. Mt. Popa is considered to be the home of Gods and spiritual beings. The legend of the mount fully supported this belief. Pilgrims, worrying to get trouble, still are practicing to avoid some matters (such as eating pork) in the area. Climbing to the mountaintop along the steep stairways, making halfway pauses to enjoy breathtaking panoramic view is worth enough for tiredness.
